A Capitol Hill associate role, a Georgetown medical director search and a specialty opening near Tenleytown need different briefs. Start with the hospital address, clinical resources and schedule, then agree the search with BEGHR.
Specify independent procedures, appointment capacity and doctor overlap. If recruiting a new graduate, name the mentor and protect teaching time in the schedule.
Plan an associate search →Define the discipline, required credentials, shift pattern and resources already available. Explain referral communication, overnight staffing and inpatient handover.
Scope a specialist role →List the hospitals and decision authority. Separate clinical workload from protected time for coaching, clinical standards, team development and site visits.
Define a medical director role →Use the actual work address, the quadrant, the building entrance and any required arrival time. Do not present a Capitol Hill vacancy as interchangeable with an opening in Upper Northwest. A rotating role should state whether movement between sites happens between working days or during a clinical shift. Suburban Maryland or Virginia roles need that state’s license and are outside this site’s coverage.
Choose the clinical and operational interviewers, confirm the employer-approved package and identify who can authorize an offer. Use the same role-related criteria for every candidate and give one person responsibility for feedback. Review the hiring brief and candidate scorecard before outreach.
This is permanent placement for employers. Your practice hires the selected candidate directly. An immediate relief shift needs a separate arrangement; this service does not promise a locum available today. Job seekers can start with BEGHR’s veterinary placement page; the pricing form here is for employer inquiries.
Use the DC Health licensure lookup portal for the relevant professional record. The District licenses veterinarians through the DC Board of Veterinary Medicine at DC Health. DC Health describes its online licensure lookup as drawn from the licensing database and updated daily. Assign a person to verify license status, record the date and resolve questions with the Board. Check any specialty credentials the employer requires with the issuing organization.
For a candidate moving from another state, review the DC Board of Veterinary Medicine veterinarian licensing page. Do not treat an out-of-state license or a preferred start date as confirmation that District requirements are met. DC Health’s application checklists list NAVLE results, a District veterinary jurisprudence affidavit, license verifications from every jurisdiction where the applicant has held a license and a criminal background check. The Board determines eligibility and timing; BEGHR does not issue licenses.
For application documents, see the veterinarian initial license application package and the veterinary technician application package.

Veterinary recruitment coverage
A Washington DC veterinary search works best when the hospital street address comes before the neighborhood label. Capitol Hill, Georgetown, Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, Brookland and Anacostia are different workplaces in different wards. Business Executive Group uses the employer’s role, schedule and address to scope a permanent search in the District of Columbia.
Name the street address and quadrant, then the ward and the Office of Planning Neighborhood Cluster if the employer uses them. The Office of Planning states that its clusters are planning units and do not represent neighborhood boundaries, and several clusters are divided between two wards on the 2022 ward map. Coverage on this site is limited to the District of Columbia. Suburban Maryland or Virginia roles need that state’s license and are outside this site’s coverage.
Capitol Hill, H Street NE and Navy Yard are three separate Office of Planning areas, and the 2022 ward map divides each of their clusters between two wards. Give the street address and quadrant for each hospital, and write a separate brief when one employer operates in more than one of them.
Georgetown, Dupont Circle and Logan Circle sit in Ward 2 but in three different Neighborhood Clusters, and the working day differs at each. Name the cross street, the entrance and the shift pattern, and keep a second site in the same group as its own assignment.
Adams Morgan is in Ward 1, while Cleveland Park and Tenleytown are in Ward 3, and each is in its own Neighborhood Cluster. Maryland places such as Chevy Chase and Bethesda sit just beyond the District line, and they fall under Maryland licensing rather than the District process described on this site.
Brookland and Brightwood are in Wards 5 and 4. Take the address from the hospital rather than from a general neighborhood label, because Michigan Park is published as a separate cluster from Brookland, and Takoma Park is a Maryland city outside this site’s coverage.
Historic Anacostia is its own Office of Planning cluster in Ward 8, and the District publishes a separate East of the River boundary. Describe the practice’s clients, programs and schedule specifically rather than assuming that the setting is the same as a hospital elsewhere in the city.
